Moleson

The lifts aren’t running at Moléson on weekdays right now, it’s a low ski station so the runs aren’t skiable now and the lifts are closed for maintenance. They’re rebuilding the top lift and replacing an old cable car with a new modern one.

Although the station is pretty much unknown outside of Switzerland it’s pretty popular locally, there’s skiing in the winter but skiers seem to be outnumbered by snowshoers, walkers and people just out for a day. In the summer there’s hiking, a via ferrata and some mountain biking.

We took a small detour on the way down to look at a small chapel and locate a geocache. Down below the snow line spring is in full force so there’s some flowers out including these crocuses near the chapel.

Moléson-sur-Gruyères, Via Ferrata
We’d planned to do this for a while and Julie had a vacation today so with good weather it was ideal. Moléson are perfectly setup for all kinds of activities and seem to drain every bit of utility they can from the facilities they’ve got, it’s a real pleasure to go there and do things. I first went to Moléson as a ski station but it’s been a couple of years at least since I’ve actually ridden one of their lifts and skied down a piste, but we’ve been many times ski touring, snow shoeing, hiking and taking family sight seeing.
