Col des Mosses Nordic Skiing

Something of a day off after a busy Christmas and New Year, we did have guests in the B&B and arrivals tonight but we had time to get over to the Col des Mosses and do some nordic skiing in perfect conditions. We parked at the far end of the loops in La Lécherette and skied to Les Mosses where we enjoyed lunch before skiing back.

Conditions on the pistes, nordic and alpine, are perfect right now and it’s fairly quiet so it’s very pleasant to be out and about.

Leysin skiing

This is the first nice day after quite a run of snow and bad weather. It’s turned a bare mountainside into a ski station though. Earlier in the week the visibility was a bit poor at times but there was some amazing powder skiing in the trees here in Leysin.

The station is pretty much all open, there’s basically one lift not running today over at Solepraz and I expect that will open tomorrow. The pistes are pretty good, slightly hard-packed in the shaded areas this morning but otherwise pretty good.

The roads in Leysin are also now basically clear so you can’t ski all the way down the road to the chalet which is a shame! But, we’re full from tomorrow for a while at the B&B and the guests should have some great skiing & snowshoeing conditions.

Snowshoe day at Champoussin, 10-11 March 2012 (repost)

This will run on 10-11 March 2012 2012 at Champéry which is in the Swiss Portes du Soleil. It’s a chance to come along, without cost, to have a look what snowshoeing is all about, see what snowshoes look like and actually try it yourself.
There will be more details of the program nearer the time both on here and on the valdilliez.ch website.

Please note, the dates and location for this have altered, it’s now Champéry and 10-11 March. I’ll stick a new poster up when I get it!
